Radial spherical plain bearings are designed to accommodate radial and combined radial and axial loads, and also misalignment. These bearings have a customized design. It utilizes a steel-on-PTFE fabric sliding contact. During an initial break-in period, PTFE particles fill surface irregularities to create a smooth, low-friction interface that requires no relubrication. The inner ring features a convex outer surface that slides within the concave inner surface of the outer ring. This allows the bearing to compensate for shaft deflections and mounting inaccuracies.
