Spherical Plain Bearings acccording to DIN ISO 12240-1 are two-piece plain bearings. They have no rolling elements, but consist of an inner and outer ring. The inner ring has a convex outer surface. Inner ring: Antifriction bearing steel, hardened, ground and polished. Outer ring: Steel lined with an antifriction film, consisting of PTFE, outer diameter ground.The outer ring has a concave inner surface. This construction gives Spherical Plain Bearings their high load carrying capacity and capacity to accommodate misalignment. Mating materials: Steel on PTFE, Maintenance free.
